The original plan seemed straightforward. Take this 2008 Evo X and compete in the new Time Attack 2 class at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Cascade, CO - on a relatively limited budget. Well, the rules changed. A lot. As a result, the car had to change. A lot. Having a car that you can race Pikes Peak on Sunday and then drive to work the following Monday sounded pretty novel at first.
We stuck with that idea for about a month. Then we accepted the reality that to have a Hill Climb car first meant abandoning all comforts of a daily driver. This is not to say that a car cannot be a daily driver and a capable track car. It just means that some of these compromises were not feasible for us. Also, we are far too good at breaking things to rely on on the availability of a car after a visit to any race track. So, this is our story....

Derek was born and raised in Colorado where he grew up in the shadow of the epic mountain he would dream to conquer – Pikes Peak. Derek began auto crossing in high school and first began competing in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in 2014. Today, he continues to compete in the PPIHC as well as other national time attack races.
Cole began working with Boyd Auto Racing in the summer of 2015 and has since become an integral part of the team. As the proud owner of JC Fabworks LLC, Cole has expertly crafted almost all the new additions on the Evo X including a new roll cage, custom V-mount inter-cooler / radiator assembly, and front splitter mounts.
